A London address, not a hotel room

There is a particular tiredness that comes from living out of a suitcase. Breakfast at someone else's hour. A kettle balanced on a chest of drawers. Nowhere to sit that isn't the bed.

Sutherland Apartments was put together for people who would rather close their own front door behind them. Every studio has a real kitchen with an oven and a hob, an en-suite shower room, and space set aside to sit and eat and work. Cook properly, do your own hours, spread your things out.

Stay three nights or three months. The building is the same either way.

The Neighbourhood

Maida Vale, on foot

Sutherland Avenue is a wide, tree-lined street of white stucco houses a few minutes from the canal at Little Venice. Warwick Avenue station sits at the end of the road, which puts Paddington two stops away and the West End inside twenty minutes.

This is a residential part of London rather than a tourist one. There is a towpath that runs all the way to Camden, a handful of good pubs, and a park to walk off dinner in. Nothing about it feels like a hotel district, which is rather the point.
